Nguyễn Thùy Linh reaches 28th in BWF women’s singles rankings

Vietnamese badminton player Nguyễn Thùy Linh climbed two spots to reach 28th in the global women’s singles rankings released by the Badminton World Federation on October 13, Laodong.vn reported. The upward movement marks her second week of gains, securing her return to the world top 30 as she transitions from European tournament play in Finland to the BWF World Tour Super 750 event in Denmark.

Immediate Challenge at the Denmark Open

Thùy Linh’s ascent on the global list precedes her opening-round match at the Denmark Open 2026, running from October 13 to October 18. Her first-round opponent in the women’s singles draw is sixth seed Tomoka Miyazaki of Japan. Miyazaki currently occupies the seventh spot in the world rankings, presenting an immediate test for the visiting Vietnamese athlete.

Form Recovery After Asian Games Campaign

The European circuit stops serve as a competitive reset following Thùy Linh’s recent appearance at the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20) in Japan, where she did not secure favorable results. By returning to international fixtures across Europe, she aims to sharpen her competitive form and collect vital ranking points. Her stated objective is a sustained push toward reclaiming a position inside the world top 20.

Movement Across Vietnam Rankings

Elsewhere in the October 13 women’s singles world rankings, fellow Vietnamese player Vũ Thị Trang maintained her position at 86th. Meanwhile, younger competitors Bùi Bích Phương and Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền both climbed the global ladder. Bích Phương advanced three spots to reach 207th, and Thu Huyền moved up to 271st. Thu Huyền is currently competing at the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships in Egypt, though she dropped her opening singles match.
