The third team of BC Herscheid secured a 5-3 victory away against GSV Fröndenberg in the Bezirksklasse, LokalDirekt reported. While the senior squad claimed victory on the road, club youngsters Sophie and Julian Baron gained tournament experience at the regional championships in Paderborn, setting the stage for the upcoming Sauerland-Cup in Herscheid.
Three Singles Victories Secure Victory in Fröndenberg
BC Herscheid claimed early points when Christian Flori and Jan-Simon Claus won the first men’s doubles alongside Marie Kristin Torbow and Jennifer Fischer in the women’s doubles, with both pairs prevailing in three sets. Stephan Lutter and Markus Wegener dropped the second men’s doubles in two sets. After Lutter also lost the third men’s singles match, the hosts leveled the overall score at 2-2.

Torbow secured the women’s singles 21-13, 23-21, locking up the overall team victory before the final match. Baron Siblings Compete at Paderborn Championships
At the regional championships held in Paderborn, Sophie Baron competed in the U15 girls’ singles and Julian Baron entered the U13 boys’ singles. Julian faced a tough opening draw against a fifth-seeded player from Herringen who eventually finished third in the tournament, losing 18-21, 14-21. He bounced back in his second match with a three-set win of 21-18, 19-21, 21-17, securing a final placement between ninth and twelfth.
Sophie Baron opened her U15 campaign with a 12-21, 9-21 defeat. She recovered to win her next two matches in straight sets. Because tournament organizers did not play out the lower bracket placements further, she finished in ninth to tenth place.
