Tatum Returns to Form With 40 Points and Game-Winner
Boston secured the victory on the back of Jayson Tatum, who scored 40 points in addition to his decisive final-second basket in overtime. The Celtics held a 61-56 advantage at halftime before the contest finished 117-117 through four quarters. Reflecting on his performance after missing nearly a full year following an Achilles tendon tear and returning in March, Tatum told reporters that hitting the winner felt like getting back to the things he did prior to his injury.

New York seized control during the third period by outscoring Detroit 37-13. Karl-Anthony Towns anchored the effort for the titleholders with 27 points and 20 rebounds.
