Provincial Badminton Showdown in Montecarlo
The under-14 badminton tournament took place at Club Gimnasia in Montecarlo, drawing competitors from the host city, Oberá, and Eldorado. Lara Enciso of Montecarlo claimed the gold in the women’s singles bracket. In the men’s singles division, Martín Fechner Pahr of Eldorado secured the top spot. The mixed doubles competition went to the Montecarlo duo of Joaquín Martín Maleti and Morena Cardozo Rojas, locking down their travel credentials for the national tournament.
Posadas Hosts Olympic Weightlifting Finals
Meanwhile, the provincial weightlifting finals unfolded at Gimnasia Gladiador in Posadas under the official supervision of the Asociación Misionera de Pesas (Amipe). Competitors from Posadas dominated the under-15 women’s divisions: Victoria Ritter took the under-53 kilogram category, Clara López won the under-57 class, and Zhoe Cabanillas triumphed in the under-69 division. On the men’s side, Haro Costa of Oberá captured the under-60 kilogram title, while Francisco López of Posadas won the under-75 class.
Upcoming Provincial Finals at Cepard and Ian Barney Complex
The Misionero sports program moves into its final week of competition with multiple disciplines closing out their qualifiers. On Sunday morning, the Centro Provincial de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (Cepard) in Posadas hosts the under-14 volleyball finals featuring squads from Dos de Mayo, Alem, Posadas, and San Pedro. Later that morning, the Combat Sports Center within the same complex will hold the under-16 boxing matches with fighters arriving from Puerto Iguazú, Garupá, Posadas, Campo Grande, Alem, and Oberá.
Competition shifts to Oberá on Monday, October 26, as the Ian Barney complex hosts the under-13 beach handball finals on its sand courts. Teams representing Candelaria, Montecarlo, Eldorado, and Oberá will compete in both men’s and women’s brackets. The provincial qualifying schedule concludes on Tuesday morning back at Cepard with the under-14 futsal tournament. The women’s bracket features Mado-Delicia, Puerto Rico, Huellas del Siglo, and Real FC, while the men’s division showcases San Martín de Wanda, Aristóbulo del Valle, Oberá, and the Escuela Infanto Juvenil de Posadas.
