Jordan’s Ministry of Youth clarified the financial prize distribution for the Youth Centers Five-a-Side Football Tournament, addressing online discussions regarding a participant who received 18 Jordanian dinars after his team finished third in their governorate, the ministry reported.
Governorate Stage Prize Allocations and Team Shares
The ministry stated that the prize allocated for finishing third at the governorate level totals 240 Jordanian dinars per team. This amount is distributed equally among the 12 players and administrators on the roster, giving each member a share of 20 dinars. Two separate teams receive this prize for claiming third place and tied third place in the governorate standings.
Total prize money for the governorate stage reaches 42,480 dinars. Meanwhile, the final round across the kingdom carries 10,920 dinars in prizes, bringing the combined financial pool for both stages to 53,400 dinars.
Tournament Participation and Administrative Rules
A total of 658 teams representing 55 districts across Jordan’s governorates took part in the tournament. According to the ministry, the distribution mechanism relies on regulations mandating equal shares among squad members because participating teams lack legal corporate status to receive a single lump sum in the team’s name.
The governing rules, including prize amounts and distribution methods, remain unchanged from three previous tournaments, most recently the event held during the month of Ramadan. The ministry noted that these regulations were communicated to all participants prior to competition.
Broader Objectives Beyond Financial Awards
The ministry emphasized its appreciation for participant feedback while noting that the tournament’s goals extend well beyond monetary prizes. Core objectives include discovering athletic talent, expanding youth participation, fostering teamwork, encouraging fair competition, and connecting sports with volunteer work and community service.
