Madeira Football Association Approves Accounts By Majority

The Associação de Futebol da Madeira posted a net financial positive result of 82,491.55 euros for the 2025-2026 season, marking a return to the black following two consecutive exercises with negative outcomes, according to financial reports approved during the organization’s general assembly.

General Assembly Approves Management Reports by Majority Vote

Meeting on October 12, delegates at the Madeira Football Association general assembly approved both the Activity Report and the Management and Accounts Report for the 2025-2026 campaign. Voting records show the activity documents secured 82.28 percent of favorable votes, while the management and accounts data received 83.02 percent backing from the membership.

Total recognized income for the period reached 1,674,339.02 euros, while total expenditures stood at 1,591,847.47 euros. The association also strengthened its short-term financial position compared to the 2024-2025 term. Current liabilities dropped by 24.4 percent, and cash and bank deposits increased by 33.1 percent. By the close of the accounting period, equity funds accounted for 72.1 percent of total assets. Association leadership also liquidated the remaining debt owed to Tecnovia Madeira, clearing that outstanding financial obligation entirely.

Accounting Adjustments Alter Income and Expense Recognition

Financial presentations during the assembly highlighted several significant changes in how revenues and expenditures are recorded. Program-contract funding is now recognized on the exact date of grant issuance, meaning increases in reported income do not automatically equate to equivalent cash inflows. Travel and transit accounting now separates total costs from social mobility subsidy reimbursements—which totaled 98,654.74 euros—rather than logging only the net cost absorbed by the association.

Sports insurance accounts underwent a similar structural shift, requiring separate entries for revenues and outlays. Amounts charged to local clubs totaled 239,408.11 euros, while total expenditures reached 265,643.43 euros. The insurance breakdown shows 247,629.95 euros allocated for players and officials, 3,906.15 euros for referees, 13,770.11 euros for veterans, and 337.22 euros for coaching course trainees. Consequently, insurance expenses exceeded club billings by 26,235.32 euros. Association officials noted that a reduction in recognized impairment losses further supported the improved net result.

Participation Metrics Reflect Decade of Growth Across Regional Competitions

The verified Activity Report highlights a consistent schedule across approximately 70 regional competitions, encompassing nearly 7,000 matches during the 2025-2026 term. Total registered participants reached 7,381 individuals. Over the past decade, the total number of athletes and active participants in the region has climbed by roughly 37 percent.

Regional organizers attribute this multi-year expansion to the collaborative efforts of local clubs, directors, coaches, referees, and families. Participation spans multiple generations and demographics, incorporating women’s divisions and adaptive sports programs such as Walking Football.

Members Honor Association History and Leadership Commitments

During the October session, the assembly adopted a vote of praise dedicated to Dr. Francisco Fernandes, author of the historical volume O Campo do Tempo, which commemorates the 110th anniversary of the Madeira Football Association. The motion, which passed with 83.02 percent support, was brought forward by the president of Clube Desportivo Nacional.

Association leadership expressed gratitude to all local clubs and sports agents for their ongoing contributions to regional development. Management reiterated its operational focus on public accountability, financial transparency, continued support for club activities, and respect for the diverse perspectives expressed by member associations.
