KSV Homberg Secures Draw Against Undefeated Langenfeld in Judo League

The KSV Homberg judo team secured a hard-fought 4:4 draw against the previously undefeated JC Langenfeld during the second matchday of the Judo Landesliga Düsseldorf on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026. Hosted at the Sporthalle an der Kirchstraße, the event drew a vocal home crowd that energized the roster through a demanding afternoon of competition.

Defying the Unbeaten League Leaders

JC Langenfeld arrived in Homberg with an unblemished record, having already defeated the Remscheider TV II 6:4 earlier on the same matchday. Despite the visitors’ momentum, the KSV Homberg squad held firm across both rounds of combat.

Tom Jäger opened the scoring for the hosts in the under-73-kilogram weight class, followed quickly by Danny Einig in the under-81-kilogram category. Those two early victories leveled the team score at 2:2 heading into the break. In the second half of the fixture, Björn Baßen claimed a crucial victory in the under-90-kilogram division before Jäger returned to the mat to defeat his opponent once more, locking in the final 4:4 scoreline.

Personnel Shortages Against Remscheid

In their second fixture of the day, KSV Homberg faced Remscheider TV II and absorbed an early disadvantage before the matches even began. Because the under-66-kilogram weight class remained vacant on the Homberg roster, two default points were handed over to the visitors in both the first and second rounds.

Despite spotting Remscheid those early margins, the team fought back fiercely in the bouts that actually took place. Thomas Henkel dominated the over-90-kilogram category by winning both of his matches. Sascha Bazynski added a win in the under-81-kilogram division during the opening round, and Danny Einig mirrored that success in the same weight class during the back half. While the official scoreboard read 4:6 in favor of Remscheid, the matches fought on the mat ended in a 4:4 stalemate, proving the team’s resilience under depleted squad conditions.

Youth Success in the U16 League

While the senior men battled in the Landesliga, young talent from the broader region showcased their skills on the mat. Competing under the banner of PSV Duisburg at the concurrent U16-league fixtures, young fighters Marco and Fineas turned in dominant performances.

Marco won his official team bout and followed up with a stoppage victory in an exhibition match. Fineas swept both of his bouts, securing one victory via a juji-gatame armbar submission that forced his opponent to tap out, and clinching his second win with a firm hold-down (keshi-gatame style pin).

Looking Ahead to the Next Fixture in Düsseldorf-Bilk

The KSV Homberg men’s team will return to league action on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. The squad travels to face the JC Kempen and host club Post-SV Düsseldorf during the third matchday of the Landesliga Düsseldorf season.

Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. local time at the Sporthalle located on Suitbertusstraße 165 in the Bilk district of Düsseldorf. The team aims to carry the defensive resilience and energetic crowd support from their home arena directly into their upcoming away fixtures.
