The Judo Club Vicois introduced a weekly taïso health session tailored for adults aged 60 and older at the COSEC complex in Vic-Fezensac, as part of an ongoing community outreach effort led by club president Yvan Taviani.
Tuesday Taïso Health Sessions for Seniors in Vic-Fezensac
Every Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM local time at the COSEC in Vic-Fezensac, the Judo Club Vicois hosts taïso health classes designed specifically for participants over 60. The martial arts-inspired discipline focuses on flexibility, coordination, balance, and muscular reinforcement, aiming to help older adults manage everyday movements and prevent falls. Sessions also incorporate training for safe floor movement and recovery after a fall.
The club must pouvoir accueillir chacun, quel que soit son âge ou son expérience,
club president Yvan Taviani stated regarding the organization’s inclusive approach.
Expansion Into Ne-Waza and Silver Club Recognition
Alongside senior fitness programs, the club expanded its schedule to include ne-waza, focusing on ground judo techniques such as mobility, holds, and escapes. The ground-work curriculum accommodates participants aged 12 to 100 without requiring prior judo experience or involving throws. Plans are also underway to introduce kata instruction and a Friday self-defense class, possibly every other Friday.
The French Judo Federation recognized the club’s administrative and coaching efforts during the national autumn kickoff stage by awarding the Judo Club Vicois the Silver Club Label. The distinction honors coaches Rémi and Clément alongside the local members, volunteers, and executives ahead of the organization’s upcoming 60th anniversary.
