General Rodríguez wins two more gold medals at Juegos Bonaerenses

General Rodríguez expanded its medal count at the Juegos Bonaerenses finals in Mar del Plata, adding two gold medals in individual adaptive sports on Wednesday, according to a report published by the Municipality of General Rodríguez.

Gold Medals in Adaptive Sports

Matías Restani secured first place in the sub-14 PCD swimming category, while Solange Fretes claimed victory in the PCD club throw event within athletics. These victories followed an earlier gold medal won by Raúl Ledesma in the under-50-kilogram judo competition.

The latest triumphs brought the local delegation’s total to nine medals across the provincial tournament. According to municipal records, the delegation’s tally stands at four gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals.

Athletes Advance in Tejo and Chess Events

Outside of the podium finishes, several athletes narrowly missed out on medals during Wednesday’s events. Guadalupe Peralta placed fourth in conventional shot put, finishing close to a medal position, while Fermín Merlo finished fifth in the aquathlon final.

Group and bracket-style events progressed as individual competitions wound down. In tejo, Stella Maris Soria and Margarita Sotomayor won both of their matches in the women’s free B category, putting them in position to reach the semifinals. In chess, Eugenio Anigstein won his men’s under-18 group and advanced to face Olympic competitor Adam Ernestina in the semifinals, representing the local delegation’s remaining contender for a medal in that discipline.

Additional sports kept local hopes alive as the multi-sport event continued. The women’s under-16 beach volleyball team defeated Lezama 2-1 and prepared to face a duo from Lincoln for a spot in the next round. In table tennis, the men’s free B team secured a victory against Brandsen to position themselves as potential semifinalists. Meanwhile, judo competitors, track and field athletes in jumping and throwing events, and the mixed football 7 squad—which won its first two matches—remained active in the provincial tournament.

Schedule of Remaining Events

Delegates continued competing in sports and cultural disciplines throughout Mar del Plata alongside their coaching staffs.
