Flamengo’s youth squad played to a 0-0 draw against Operário-PR on Tuesday at Estádio Germano Krüger in Ponta Grossa, Paraná, during the opening leg of the 2026 Copa do Brasil Sub-20 quarter-finals, flamengo.com.br reported.
The scoreless stalemate leaves the path to the semi-finals wide open ahead of the return fixture. Both sides traded chances through an entertaining opening period and late surges, but neither team managed to break the deadlock on the road.
Operário and Flamengo Exchange Early Scoring Chances
Operário started the match aggressively, generating immediate danger in the opening minutes of the contest. Flamengo settled into the match, however, and responded by fashioning several scoring opportunities before halftime. Attackers Sayago and João Vitor Couto both forced sharp saves from Operário goalkeeper Matheus Lopes, while Flamengo netminder Léo Nannetti faced steady pressure from the home side’s attacking thrusts.
The visiting side maintained defensive solidity despite the intense early pressure from Operário. Referee Matheus Leonardo Kulkamp Liar issued yellow cards to Élcio for the hosts, alongside Daniel Silva and Johnny for Flamengo, as physical challenges mounted across the pitch.
Flamengo Defense Holds Firm to Preserve Clean Sheet
Flamengo pushed for the opening goal shortly after the interval. Sayago picked out teammate João Vitor Couto early in the second period, but the forward fired his shot over the crossbar. Moments later, defender Diego Guimarães delivered a cross into the penalty area that Josmar headed narrowly wide of the target.
The home side ramped up their offensive pressure in the closing stages of the match as they hunted for a late winner. Flamengo’s backline held firm against the late attacks, preserving the clean sheet until the final whistle.

Before turning back to national competition, Flamengo returns to action on Friday at 15:00 local time to face Sampaio Corrêa at CT George Helal in the second leg of the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20 quarter-finals.
