FITARCO Promotes Health and Archery at Rome’s Policlinico Umberto I

Archery can serve as an effective tool for promoting physical well-being and active lifestyles outside of competitive arenas. The Italian Archery Federation (FITARCO) demonstrated this approach by participating in the “Il Cammino della Salute” event at the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, as reported.

Organized through the efforts of Dr. Paola Andreozzi, the gathering formed part of the third edition of “La Giornata dell’Internista,” a broader initiative focused on internal medicine prevention and the spread of health awareness through physical movement. FITARCO set up an archery range within the hospital’s patient park, where federation coaches guided dozens of participants through their first attempts at the sport. Doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, university students, and members of the public handled bows and arrows for the first time, shooting at targets and receiving a symbolic “First Arrow Fired” diploma upon completion.

Lucilla Boari Promotes Sporting Values to Youth

Lucilla Boari, an athlete representing the Fiamme Oro and a bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, attended the program to share her experiences and promote sporting values among younger attendees.

Academic Conference on Sport and Internal Medicine Prevention

Following the outdoor demonstrations, proceedings moved to the Cassano Hall for a conference dedicated to preventative health. Boari and Emanuele Alberini, coach of the FITARCO national youth recurve team, addressed an audience of medical professionals and students as guest speakers. Presentations during the session emphasized that archery builds concentration, balance, self-control, and healthy behavioral patterns, framing sport as an essential component of personal growth and psychological well-being.

FITARCO Aligns Archery Outreach with Clinical Initiatives

The institutional participation at Policlinico Umberto I shows FITARCO's ongoing strategy to highlight the educational, social, and health-promoting functions of archery beyond tournament settings. By embedding sport within a medical teaching environment, the federation aligns its grassroots outreach with clinical initiatives aimed at encouraging active lifestyles across all age groups in Rome.
