PalaCep hosts sixth Bruno Foglino archery trophy with 80 archers

Roughly 80 archers ranging from teenagers to seniors will gather at the PalaCep indoor facility inside the Circolo ARCI Pianacci on Via della Benedicta 14 on Sunday, October 25, to compete in the sixth edition of the Bruno Foglino Trophy, La Voce di Genova reported.

Interregional Competition on an 18-Meter Range

The traditional interregional archery competition features an 18-meter distance format. The confirmed turnout of approximately 80 competitors highlights the sustained growth of the event, which is organized by ASD Arcieri Grande Genova under the auspices of FITARCO, the Italian Archery Federation.

Competition gets underway at 9:00 a.m. local time (07:00 UTC) and runs throughout the day inside the 1,056-square-meter tent structure. Organizers scheduled medal ceremonies and the awarding of the Bruno Foglino Trophy for late afternoon, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. local time.

Honoring a Neighborhood Advocate

The tournament preserves the memory of Bruno Foglino, a prominent local figure who lived in the CEP neighborhood with his family and worked extensively for community development throughout the 1980s. In 2018, the Circolo ARCI Pianacci named its indoor archery hall after Foglino to honor his neighborhood contributions.

Weekly archery sessions at the facility run through a partnership between ASD Arcieri Grande Genova and the venue, driven by the ongoing efforts of instructor Francesco Dominici. The PalaCep layout allows organizers to set up multiple simultaneous shooting ranges to streamline the schedule.

Venue Versatility Amid Facility Closures

The facility’s lack of architectural barriers ensures full accessibility for disabled athletes competing in the tournament. Beyond archery, the PalaCep continues to absorb community programming following the October 1 closure of the venue’s roller-skating rink due to surface defects.

The indoor space previously hosted the Premio Strega Giovani literary ceremony in May and currently accommodates local twirling events while the skating surface awaits repairs.
