Da Nang City hosts various sports events for teenagers

The Da Nang City Open Tischtennisturnier 2026 drew 522 athletes from 26 clubs, according to vietnam.vn. The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism in collaboration with the city’s Table Tennis Association, featured competitors aged 7 to 18, reflecting a growing emphasis on youth development in local sports infrastructure.

The Phan Chau Trinh Club in Hoa Cuong district has long served as a hub for young table tennis enthusiasts, offering modern facilities and regularly hosting major tournaments. The 2026 youth and children’s table tennis championship attracted athletes from 26 clubs, showing its effect on encouraging grassroots participation. “To improve my skills, athletes must compete regularly,” said Hoang Van Khanh, a three-time participant from NTT Tam Ky Table Tennis Club. “The tournament’s atmosphere fuels my passion for the sport.”

Multi-Sport Festival Drives Youth Participation

Since early 2026, Da Nang has hosted a series of events under the 10th Da Nang City Sports Festival, including swimming, badminton, athletics, basketball, cross-country running, chess, Vovinam, traditional martial arts, and karate. These activities catered to athletes of all ages and backgrounds, with the city’s sports associations actively promoting youth engagement through competitive platforms.

Talent Development Through Structured Competitions

Da Nang’s sports infrastructure has been key to finding and developing talent. Many athletes currently contributing to the city’s high-performance sports programs were discovered through grassroots activities. The Da Nang Table Tennis Association, for instance, operates an annual tournament system featuring team competitions, city club events, junior and children’s tournaments, and elite player contests.

“The youth tournaments are lively and attract talented players,” said Le Thi My Hanh, vice president and general secretary of the Da Nang Table Tennis Association. “We collaborate with the city’s sports sector to build a sustainable competition framework that will last. Regular tournaments keep youth engaged and foster a vibrant sports culture.”
