Vietnam Sports Initiative Draws 232,460 Participants

A nationwide sports training initiative in Vietnam drew 232,460 direct participants across 33 provinces and cities, according to figures released from the program’s opening event. The campaign, which launched in Hanoi near Hoan-Kiem-See, aims to increase public participation in regular physical activity and health awareness.

Opening Events Around Hoan-Kiem-See in Hanoi

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated the launch alongside Vietnam Television, the Hanoi People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Youth Union. Activities centered around the Hoan-Kiem-See area in Hanoi, where residents tried out walking, jogging, Sepak Takraw, Pickleball, Wushu, Judo, Taekwondo, chess, and golf.

Attendance tallies from the opening day highlighted specific community interests across the capital’s central zone. The Sepak Takraw area drew over 650 participants, while spring and shuffle dance sessions attracted about 400 people. Pickleball saw over 350 participants test out the sport, and the golf zone welcomed roughly 200 visitors, which included about 120 public school students.

Health Screenings and Consultations at the Vietnam Sports Hospital

Alongside the athletic demonstrations, the Vietnam Sports Hospital operated a medical station to support attendees. Over 2,500 people received checkups, treatments, and medical consultations during the rollout. More than 750 individuals took part in detailed health advisory sessions across the two program days, reinforcing the connection between structured physical training and personal healthcare.

Goals of the National Sports Campaign

Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, director of the Vietnamese Sports Authority and a representative of the organizing committee, stated that the program is designed to encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own health, as well as the well-being of their families and communities. Organizers emphasized that members of the public should move past simply watching demonstrations and actively participate to find disciplines that suit their physical condition and personal preferences.

Future Plans for Community Sports Integration

Following the conclusion of the opening events, the organizing committee outlined plans to sustain the momentum. Authorities intend to continue athletic activities across schools, government offices, public agencies, and residential neighborhoods. The long-term objective of the initiative is to establish regular physical movement as a daily habit across Vietnam, supporting public health and fitness standards nationwide.
