The Colombian Para archery delegation secured 10 medals and earned nine qualification spots for the upcoming continental games, finishing a dominant run at the international tournament in Peru.
Ten Medals and Nine Qualification Slots Secured in Lima
Colombia claimed a total of 10 medals at the Parapanamerican Archery Championship, which ran from October 21 to 26 at the Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA) in Lima, Peru, Opanoticias reported. The national delegation featured 10 athletes competing across compound, compound W1, and recurve divisions against competitors from across the Americas. Alongside the three gold, five silver, and two bronze medals collected during the six-day event, the team secured nine quota places for the Lima 2027 Parapan American Games.

Recurve Divisions Deliver Three Gold Medals for Colombia
Colombia’s gold-medal count came entirely from the recurve events. Maira Mosquera and Mónica Daza captured the women’s recurve doubles title by defeating the United States 5-4 in the semifinals and sweeping Brazil 6-0 in the final, a victory that also locked up two quota spots for the 2027 continental games. In the men’s recurve doubles, Héctor Ramírez and Jairo Burgos advanced past Brazil 6-0 before replicating the scoreline against Mexico to take the gold. Mosquera and Ramírez then teamed up for the mixed recurve team event, edging Guatemala 6-4 in the semifinals and beating Brazil by the same margin in the final to claim the nation’s third gold medal.
Silver and Bronze Finishes Across Compound and Individual Events
The delegation added five silver medals in both compound and recurve disciplines. Junior Rentería and Cristian Correa took silver in men’s compound doubles after falling 156-151 to the United States in the final. In women’s compound doubles, Yasneide Peñaranda and Ariana Correa tied Brazil 142-142 before dropping the tiebreaker 19-18. Peñaranda and Cristian Correa also claimed silver in mixed compound team play after a loss to the United States. In individual competition, Peñaranda took silver in women’s compound following a 137-133 defeat against Brazil’s Karla Gogel, while Burgos settled for silver in men’s recurve after a 5-5 draw with Brazil’s Thiago Pinheiro went to a deciding arrow.
Two individual bronze medals rounded out the podium finishes in the recurve brackets. Héctor Ramírez placed third in the men’s individual competition, and Maira Mosquera secured bronze in the women’s division by defeating Chile’s Amanda Garabito in the quarterfinals and Brazil’s Lindiara Souza 6-2 in the third-place playoff. Meanwhile, Angie Alarcón and Miguel Patarroyo finished fourth in the mixed W1 team event following losses to the United States in the semifinals and Brazil in the bronze-medal match.
