Thomas Trudel, a 12-year-old archer from Lorrainville in the Témiscamingue region of Quebec, won the gold medal at the Canadian Archery Championship held in Amos over the weekend, according to a report by Tanya Neveu.
Gold in Amos
Trudel took up archery just a year ago and captured his third win in the sport over the weekend. He noted that steady discipline rather than innate ability drove his performance during the three-day competition.
The word talent in archery can exist, but it is mostly about practice,
Trudel said. It is not your bow and all your equipment that will make you shoot better, you go by evolving.
The young athlete has accumulated five gold medals over the past year. However, claiming the national championship title stands out as his proudest accomplishment to date.
It encourages me even more to shoot,
Trudel said. It’s a bigger competition, it lasted three days.
Virginie Plumier Supports Her Son's Archery Success
Virginie Plumier, Thomas’s mother, took up the sport alongside her son and shared in his enthusiasm following the weekend tournament.
I am a mom who is very, very proud of her boy,
Plumier said. I never would have thought a year ago that my boy would win the Canadian championship.
Plumier added that We would all like to be a role model for our children, so I hope I inspired and encouraged him in that,
she said.
Trudel Trains for Two Upcoming Tournaments
