Catanzaro Archers Win Five Gold Medals at Regional Indoor Event, CalabriaInforma Reports

Archers from Catanzaro opened the indoor competitive season with five gold medals at the regional tournament in Camigliatello silano, CalabriaInforma reported. The event, hosted by Arcieri della Sila at the local sports hall, drew competitors from across the region for the first official indoor competition of the calendar.

Indoor Archery Season Opens in Camigliatello Silano

The competition follows the conclusion of the national outdoor campaign, which wrapped up with the Italian Field Archery Championships in Vitulano. That outdoor national event featured Catanzaro archers Edoardo Poerio Piterà, Francesco Poerio Piterà, and 10-year-old Alessandro Poerio Piterà, who competed as the youngest participant in the national field.

Transitioning immediately from outdoor ranges to indoor facilities, local athletes secured five top-podium finishes under the supervision of coaching staff.

Club Lido and Cam Arcieri Monica Athletes Win Gold

Club Lido athletes secured four of the victories. Alessandro Poerio Piterà won gold in the barebow youth division (arco nudo giovanissimi), Sofia Sgotto claimed the recurve cadet title (ricurvo Allieve), Anastasia Poerio Piterà triumphed in the compound junior category, and Edoardo Poerio Piterà took gold in the barebow master division.

A fifth gold medal went to Francesco Poerio Piterà. While he is a member of Club Lido, he competes regionally under the affiliation of Cam Arcieri Monica di Gallarate, capturing first place in the senior recurve division.

Coaching Staff Assesses Summer Training and Quick Transition

Coach Edoardo Poerio Piterà and youth sector head Pasquale Demasi expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting the difficulty of shifting from outdoor to indoor competition formats in a compressed timeframe. The squad spent the summer months training through high temperatures to prepare for both the national field championships and the indoor opener.

“We worked seriously and with dedication during these hot summer months,” Edoardo Poerio Piterà said, pointing to young Alessandro’s participation at the Vitulano national championships in an older age bracket as proof of the program’s developmental trajectory overseen by Demasi.

The coaching staff also acknowledged logistical and operational support from Maurizio Sgotto, who collaborates with Team Club Lido, and highlighted Francesco Poerio Piterà’s consistent commitment despite his various external schedules.

Upcoming Qualification Events on the Calendar

Following the successful opening weekend in Camigliatello Silano, the athletes and coaching staff are turning their attention to upcoming qualification fixtures. The team plans to enter a series of regional and national qualifying events designed to secure ranking positions and maintain competitive form throughout the 2026-2027 indoor cycle.
