CA Osasuna has dismissed manager Luis Miguel Ramis following a difficult start to the season and re-appointed Jagoba Arrasate on a contract running until June 2029.
The club announced the coaching changes on Monday following a board meeting in Pamplona that ratified the recommendation of the sports management team. Ramis departs alongside his entire backroom staff, which included José Manuel Gil, Iván Madroño, Miguel Ángel Fernández, and José Fajardo, after managing just two wins in his opening eight league matches. Arrasate has signed a contract for the remainder of the current campaign and two additional seasons.
Board Ratifies Departure Following Heavy Defeat
The decision to remove Ramis came in the wake of a 5–2 defeat against Real Betis, a result that left Osasuna in 16th place in the La Liga standings, just two points above the relegation zone. RTVE reported that the club’s poor run included four defeats, two draws, and two victories, with only one point secured from the last five matches.
Osasuna opened the campaign on a positive note in August under Ramis, collecting an opening draw followed by the team’s only two victories of his tenure. However, a winless run through September and early October prompted the board to act. In an official club statement, the board thanked Ramis and his staff for their efforts and wished them success in their future professional endeavors.
Arrasate Returns to El Sadar on Long-Term Deal
Minutes after confirming the departure of Ramis, Osasuna announced the return of Jagoba Arrasate.

Arrasate arrives as the second-most experienced manager in Osasuna history, having previously taken charge of 256 official matches. He will be joined by assistant coach Bittor Alkiza, who also served alongside him during his celebrated first spell in Pamplona.
Historical Success and Recent Stints
Born on April 22, 1978, in Berriatua, Bizkaia, Arrasate first took charge at El Sadar in 2018 following spells with Real Sociedad and Numancia, arriving with the objective of achieving promotion to the top flight.
His previous tenure also featured five successful seasons maintaining the Pamplona side in the top tier of La Liga, alongside historical milestones such as the 2023 Copa del Rey final—which ended in a defeat against Real Madrid while fighting for the title in Seville—qualification for the UEFA Conference League that same season, a return to Europe, and the club’s first-ever participation in the Spanish Super Cup.
Training Schedule and Upcoming Fixture
Arrasate is scheduled to be officially presented to the media on Tuesday at 12:30 local time at the El Sadar stadium. He will then lead his first training session of his second stint on Wednesday morning in an open session at Tajonar.
The newly re-appointed manager will make his immediate return to the El Sadar dugout on Sunday, when Osasuna hosts Real Racing Club in league action.
