Jagoba Arrasate returns to Osasuna as manager until 2029

Osasuna dismissed head coach Luis Ramis on Monday following an eight-match start to the La Liga season, naming former manager Jagoba Arrasate as his replacement on a contract running through June 2029.

Coaching Change at El Sadar After Eight Matches

Osasuna moved to restructure its technical staff early in the domestic campaign, parting ways with Luis Ramis after eight league fixtures. The club acted swiftly to secure Jagoba Arrasate, who previously directed the Pamplona side from 2018 through 2024. Ramis departs with a record of two wins, two draws, and four losses, leaving the club in 16th place in the La Liga standings with a three-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Arrasate Returns on a Long-Term Deal Through 2029

Jagoba Arrasate agreed to a deal spanning through 2029, returning to the bench where he achieved some of the most notable milestones in modern club history. During his previous six-year tenure spanning 256 official matches, the Basque coach guided Osasuna from the Segunda División to the top flight in his initial 2018–19 campaign. He subsequently established the club in La Liga, culminating in a Copa del Rey runner-up finish and a seventh-place finish that qualified the team for the UEFA Conference League in 2023. Arrasate departs as the second-longest tenured manager in club history for matches in Spain’s top division, trailing only Pedro Mari Zabalza.

Stops at Mallorca and Previous Top-Flight Experience

Following his departure from El Sadar in 2024, Arrasate took charge at Mallorca, steering the Balearic club to a 10th-place finish in the 2024–25 season. His tenure in Palma ended in February following a difficult run of form, leaving the coach available until Osasuna initiated contact this week. Before his initial arrival in Pamplona, Arrasate managed Real Sociedad and Numancia in Spanish professional football.
