Benjamin Sorin Selected for French Run-Archery Team After Record Candé Tournament

Archers in Candé drew a record-setting 122 competitors to the salle des Archers for a two-day tournament held on October 10 and 11, according to local organizers. The turnout substantially outpaced the club’s usual participation numbers.

Record Turnout at the Salle des Archers

Typically, local competitions hosted by the club draw between 80 and 85 archers. Club secretary Emilie Cerisier noted that the exceptional figures reflected broader engagement across the sport in the region. Alongside the spike in individual entries, tournament organizers welcomed 13 competing teams, compared to the usual four or five squads. Cerisier stated that the larger field created a more competitive atmosphere between the participating clubs.

National Selection for Benjamin Sorin

While the home tournament drew crowds to the salle des Archers, local competitor Benjamin Sorin was absent from the weekend’s shooting line due to national team commitments. Sorin, who has trained with the Candé club since age 14 and coaches the club’s teenagers, earned his first selection for the French national run-archery team. He traveled to Wroclaw, Poland, to compete internationally, drawing strong support from fellow club members awaiting his final results.

Upcoming Regional Competitions and Calendar

The autumn tournament kicked off a busy stretch of hosting duties for the Candé club. Local organizers have scheduled several regional and departmental events through the winter and spring. The club will host a round of the Challenge Chairmartin for regional beginners on January 16, followed immediately by the Coupe Patrice-Lebreton youth team cup on January 17, 2027. Outdoor competition returns with an outdoor tournament on April 24 and 25, followed by a regional youth tournament round on May 1 and a regional excellence division round on May 2.
