Balma Arc Club Qualifies Five Athletes for European Run Archery Cup

Five athletes from the Balma Arc Club have qualified for the European Run Archery Cup in Wroclaw, Poland, following a strong finish to the national season.

Wroclaw Hosts European Run Archery Cup

The continental competition takes place from Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11, in Wroclaw, Poland. The delegation from the Haute-Garonne region earned their spots following strong performances at the final leg of the Run Archery Tour held on September 26 and 27 in Montigny-lès-Cormeilles, where 57 athletes competed from across France.

Fabrice Laumon, president of the Balma Arc Club, highlighted the club’s representation at the national finale. “Balma y était fortement représentée avec 10 participants,” Laumon said, noting that the club’s archers secured multiple podium finishes across various competitive categories before securing their tickets for Poland.

National Success Leads to Continental Selection

Among the qualifiers heading to Wroclaw are Zoé Hardy, Romane Mothe, Muriel Mothe, Florian Caqueret, and Bruno Serny. The squad’s selection follows a demanding domestic schedule that tested both endurance and precision.

At the Montigny-lès-Cormeilles finals, Iséa Gras captured first place in the U18F division, while Florian Caqueret took top honors in the S1H category. Romane Mothe finished third in S1F, and Muriel Mothe claimed second place in S2F. The club also secured a second-place finish in the duo relay event.

Run Archery Blends Running Sprints with Target Shooting

Run Archery, integrated by the Balma Arc Club since the early 2020s, blends running with traditional archery. Inspired by winter biathlon, the discipline requires competitors to alternate between running sprints and shooting at targets from both standing and kneeling positions.

Athletes carry their bows while racing, stopping to shoot twelve arrows per event. Each missed target results in a penalty loop, placing a heavy premium on cardiovascular recovery and steady marksmanship under physical stress.
