Anhui Badminton League Finals Open in Lu’an Featuring 16 Prefectures and Cities

Anhui Province Amateur Badminton Championships Open in Lu’an

The "Wanmei Sports Convergence" 2026 Anhui Provincial Badminton League finals opened on the morning of October 17 at the Lu'an Sports Center Gymnasium, bringing together athletes from 16 prefectures and cities across the province.

Opening Ceremony and Regional Cultural Showcases

Following the performance of the national anthem, Lu’an Municipal People’s Government Vice Mayor Li Ling delivered the welcome address, while representatives of the athletes and referees took their respective oaths. Anhui Provincial Sports Department Party Member and Deputy Director Qin Xu formally declared the tournament open to launch the competition. Before the matches began, cultural and sports performances including “The Eight-Month Osmanthus Flowers Everywhere” and “The Goose’s Dream” integrated local regional characteristics with athletic spirit, highlighting the dynamic identity of western Anhui.

Three-Tiered Tournament Structure Drives Grassroots Participation

Operating as a core event within the province’s 2026 fitness calendar, the tournament utilizes a three-tiered structure comprising county-level qualifiers, city-level leagues, and the provincial finals. The format spans 16 prefectures and features open and team categories designed for amateur players. The multi-stage framework shifted everyday participants from spectators into active competitors, helping expand the sport’s footprint throughout the Jianghuai region.

Industrial Integration and Exhibition Plaza Displays

Alongside the athletic competition, organizers established an exhibition area spanning 73 booths and featuring over 70 participating entities at the Lu’an Sports Center south plaza. The setup divided displays into six distinct zones covering badminton equipment, premium agricultural products, intangible cultural heritage items, tourism promotions, brand features, and leisure services. Local specialties including Lu’an Guapian tea, Huoshan shihu, and Jinzhai huangjing appeared alongside demonstrations of traditional crafts like Shucheng wood-burning pyrography and Wengdun sugar painting.

White Goose Industry Chain Links Sport to Manufacturing

Exhibits also showcased badminton gear, shuttlecocks, down quilts, and pillows, connecting the athletic equipment directly to the region’s white goose industry. Lu’an is recognized as a white goose and down hub, producing 40 percent of the nation’s training-grade shuttlecocks. The exhibition strategy paired athletic competition with local manufacturing output, offering visiting players and spectators a direct view of regional consumer goods and supply chains.

Future Sports Development and Public Fitness Goals

The tournament aims to strengthen the public fitness service network and expand recreational athletic offerings across Anhui. By connecting community events with regional commerce and tourism, organizers intend to encourage broader sports participation while supporting local economic development through organized physical activity.
