Edi Daniel Earns National Team Selection
Edi Daniel has officially earned a spot on the South Korea national team for the upcoming 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Daniel currently plays professionally for the Seoul SK Knights. He secured his place on the international stage following a breakout domestic campaign.
He became the first high school-recruited player in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) to win the league’s Newcomer Sixth Man Award. The honor recognizes exceptional performance and impact off the bench beyond the starting five.

They selected him as a specialized talent scholar for three consecutive years.
The financial and developmental support was designed to help young athletes toward elite international competition.
Reflecting on his journey from a supported youth prospect to a national team selection, Daniel recalled his initial reaction to receiving the scholarship. He noted at the time that the foundation provided a sense of hope to someone like a growing sprout. He added that he intended to grow strong with the nourishment provided.
Ambitions Set on International Competition
Following his selection to the national team, Daniel stated his ambition to represent South Korea proudly and establish himself as a recognized basketball player on the international stage.
Lee Ji-hyun, a deputy general manager at the foundation, explained the broader mission behind the scholarship program. The organization aims to help multicultural youths discover their talents and sustain their athletic dreams through ongoing specialized scholarships, ensuring that children’s potential bears fruit across sports and other fields.
Broader Roster of Supported Scholars Flourishes
The foundation’s broader roster of supported special talent scholars has also delivered strong competitive results in domestic competitions.

Records show that weightlifter Kim Tae-yang secured three gold medals and the Most Valuable Player award at the National Men’s Weightlifting Championship. Additionally, judoka Jang Mir and track athlete Song Jae-yeon claimed a gold medal and two gold medals respectively at the National Youth Sports Festival.
