At the WTT Feeder Bangkok 2026 tournament in Thailand, Vietnamese table tennis players Đỗ Mạnh Lương and Nguyễn Thái Bảo advanced to the men’s doubles quarterfinals before exiting the competition.
Quarterfinal Clash Against Top Seeds
Entering the match with youthful energy, Mạnh Lương and Thái Bảo adopted an aggressive style. They proactively combined shots from close to the net to deep-table rallies to pressure their opponents. However, Bu Shulaybi and Alkhadrawi leaned on their wealth of international experience to neutralize the tactical approach.
The Saudi Arabian pair maintained a tight defense and countered effectively from distance. Facing superior technical execution, the Vietnamese team dropped three straight games, losing 0-3 with set scores of 4-11, 9-11, and 4-11. Despite the straight-games defeat, the quarterfinal run in their maiden WTT Feeder appearance earned the pair praise from table tennis experts.
Broader Campaign for the Vietnamese Delegation
The tournament, held from September 14 to 18 with a total prize pool of $30,000 USD, drew competitive fields from across the globe. Vietnam fielded a five-player roster consisting of Nguyễn Khoa Diệu Khánh, Đinh Anh Hoàng, Nguyễn Thái Bảo, Đỗ Mạnh Lương, and Nguyễn Hạnh Ngân. All five athletes arrived in Thailand fresh off competing at the 10th National Sports Games.

Earlier in the schedule, other members of the national delegation exited in the opening rounds. In the men’s singles 1/32 round, Đinh Anh Hoàng fell 0-3 to the tournament’s fifth seed, Pal Akash of India. Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles division, Đinh Anh Hoàng and Nguyễn Khoa Diệu Khánh dropped a 1-3 decision to Malaysia’s Yap Rui Zhe and Tee Ai Xin at the 1/32 stage. With the conclusion of Mạnh Lương and Thái Bảo’s quarterfinal match, all remaining Vietnamese contenders have finished their schedules at the Bangkok event.
