José Miguel Lipán, a member of the Chilean National Archery Team and a first-year student of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Universidad de O’Higgins, will represent Chile at the 2026 World Field and 3D Archery Championships in Yankton, South Dakota, according to reporting by El Tipógrafo. The international competition is scheduled to run from September 22 to October 3, 2026, featuring elite archers from around the globe in outdoor disciplines that test distance judgment, terrain reading, and technical precision.
The Road to Yankton and National Selection
Securing a spot on the national squad was the primary objective Lipán set for himself ahead of the competitive calendar, participating in rigorous domestic qualifying events throughout the season. “The truth is that this year I prepared to represent Chile in this championship. His journey in the sport began with a childhood fascination fueled by movies and video games before he formally discovered archery as an organized discipline in 2023. He subsequently sought out local training options and joined Club Alicanto in Machalí, where he currently completes his daily preparations.”
In a relatively short timeframe, Lipán transitioned from a recreational enthusiast into a competitive contender on the national stage. Entering his first world championship appearance in the Field category, Lipán has chosen to focus on execution and consistency rather than fixed medal targets. “My main expectations, rather than going for a position or a medal, are to do a good job, stay true to my shot, and enjoy every second of that tournament.
