His offensive workload in Las Vegas shifted following the arrival of rookie standout Brock Bowers, creating a potential opening for opposing teams seeking reinforced blocking and reliable pass-catching capabilities.
Raiders Stance on Roster Retention
Despite outside inquiries, league reports indicate that the Raiders have rebuffed trade overtures for their young tight end. Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer noted that teams inquiring about Mayer and cornerback Eric Stokes received negative responses from the organization.
“Teams have called on TE Michael Mayer (whom Vegas could actually extend in the offseason) and CB Eric Stokes, and have been told no,” Albert Breer wrote.
While industry analysts have pointed out that Las Vegas could benefit from accumulating additional draft capital to address ongoing roster needs, the team continues to value Mayer’s inline blocking and physical presence on the field.
