Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed to the Abendzeitung that family members representing the player are currently holding direct talks with Jan-Christian Dreesen. “Harry’s brother and his father are negotiating right now with Jan-Christian Dreesen,” Rummenigge said. “I am optimistic that they will find a good solution.” The ongoing dialogue highlights the club’s desire to tie down their prolific number nine well before his current deal expires.
An Exception to Bayern’s Over-30 Policy
Addressing the forward’s age, Rummenigge acknowledged that the club traditionally exercises caution when offering extended terms to players past their 30th birthday. However, Kane’s elite production and remarkable durability have prompted a policy exception inside the boardroom. “In the past, I would have said: With players over 30, you should basically only do one-year contracts,” Rummenigge noted. “But there are exceptions when you are convinced of a player. And we are with Harry.”
