The city of Girona has a new grassroots sports entity aiming to restore community-driven values to local athletics. The Club Esportiu Recreatiu de Vista Alegre, known as CERVA, officially launched its project during a public presentation at the Local Social Nou de Vista Alegre-Carme, establishing its foundation on the historic Camp de Vistalegre grounds.
Reviving the Yellow and Black of Unió Deportiva Girona
Founded to reconnect with the earliest days of street-level football in the city, CERVA enters Girona sports with a clear visual and cultural identity. The club’s crest and colors—yellow and black—pay direct homage to the Unió Deportiva Girona, widely regarded as the historical embryo of the current Girona F.C. According to club leadership, this aesthetic choice bridges modern soccer with local sporting heritage.
Building Neighborhood Bonds Beyond the Scoreboard
During the public debut, club president Roger Soler emphasized that athletic competition is only part of the organization’s broader mission. “The will is for football to be the starting point to generate community, reinforce the bonds between neighbors and make the club another actor in the daily life of Vista Alegre-Carme,” Soler stated.
The executive board guiding this mission includes Albert Mulero, Sergi Mérida, and Adrià Soler.
Setting the Course for Quarta Catalana by 2027
For its inaugural campaign, CERVA will compete in the annual non-federated league organized by the GEiEG. This setup gives players immediate playing time while the board stabilizes the organization’s administrative and financial foundations.
Looking further ahead, the club has set its sights on the 2027-2028 season to make the jump into federated competition within the Quarta Catalana division. To facilitate that transition, leadership has already initiated formal requests for municipal sports facilities.
Festa Alegre 2026 and Upcoming Sociocultural Calendar
Beyond the pitch, CERVA will integrate immediately into neighborhood traditions. On Saturday, October 3, the club will launch its sociocultural agenda in collaboration with the Associació de Veïns Vista Alegre-Carme as part of the Festa Alegre 2026 celebrations.
The public event will feature a neighborhood tour stopping at various local establishments for refreshments, music, and festivities.
