Speciaal Voetbal marked a decade of inclusive athletics this week, celebrating ten years of its program with a morning of matches, youth activities, and community gatherings on the football field.
What started a decade ago with only six players has expanded into a roster of nearly twenty athletes, youth chairman Arnoud Schoolen noted. To mark the milestone, organizers welcomed visiting players from Bredevoort for a joint sports morning that featured football matches, a bouncy castle, and a panna cage.
A Decade of Growth and Community Impact
The anniversary celebration highlighted the steady expansion of the specialized program since its inception.
Throughout the anniversary morning, participants engaged in various football activities alongside the visiting delegation from Bredevoort. Weather conditions supported the outdoor schedule, allowing players and visitors to utilize both the main pitches and the recreational installations set up for the event.
Volunteers and Local Support
Club leadership emphasized that the ten-year milestone would not have been reachable without the consistent weekly commitment of local supervisors and volunteers. According to the club’s youth chairman, these individuals manage the training sessions and logistical support that keep the specialized squad active throughout the year.

Between training sessions and matches, participants received refreshments including snacks provided by tournament organizers. The community-focused approach remains central to the Speciaal Voetbal initiative, which prioritizes participation and recreation over competitive outcomes.
Looking Ahead to the Next Chapter
As Speciaal Voetbal closes its first decade of specialized football operations, organizers have turned their attention toward maintaining the program’s momentum.
