Badminton Danmark has appointed former national team player Lotte Thomsen as the new head of the U13 East region, according to an announcement from the governing body. Thomsen takes over the responsibility for regional U13 training gatherings in eastern Denmark from Anton Tømming Larsen, who transitions to a role as U15 national coach.
Stepping Into Youth Development
For Thomsen, the appointment marks an opportunity to shape emerging badminton talents within the region. Drawing on her background as a former national team player, she aims to focus on holistic athlete growth during the regional camps.
“It is important to work with the U13 group, and now I have been given this opportunity to be involved in the development of youth players in Denmark, and as a former national team player I would very much like to contribute to that,” Thomsen said in a statement to Badminton Danmark.
She emphasized the significance of the player experience during these formative years. “It is important to get the young players some good experiences along the way, and I hope to be able to help provide that when the players gather. I look forward to working to help the young players develop and achieve their dreams and at the same time look at the whole person along the way.”
Transitions in the Coaching Roster
Thomsen’s predecessor, Anton Tømming Larsen, leaves the U13 East post to step up as the U15 national coach. The shuffle is part of a broader series of coaching adjustments across Denmark’s youth national teams and regional training centers, detailed in Badminton Danmark’s official coaching announcement.
