The Argentine judo team captured a gold medal in the Katame No Kata category through the pairing of Pablo Surace and Abel Benedetto, who secured the first-place finish on the podium. The discipline highlights technical mastery and traditional forms within the sport.
Additional podium finishes in judo bolstered the national count during the same session. Tomás Quinteros earned a bronze medal in the under-90 kilograms division by defeating Venezuelan competitor Jonhelius Patete. In the up-to-100 kilograms category, Ivo Dargoltz claimed bronze after overcoming Colombian opponent Francisco Balanta. Meanwhile, Agustín Gil advanced to the final in the up-to-81 kilograms weight class following a waza-ari victory over Chile’s Jorge Pérez, ultimately securing a silver medal after a hard-fought bout against Brazil’s Gabriel Falcao.
Agustín Destribats Dominates on the Wrestling Mat
In wrestling, Agustín Destribats delivered one of the quickest finals of the tournament. According to coverage from TN, the Argentine competitor defeated Ecuador’s Joshua Kramer in a championship bout that lasted mere seconds.
Bowling and Target Sports Add to the Tally
The bowling lanes provided another golden moment for Argentina when Alexis Plakoudakis claimed first place in the men’s competition. Plakoudakis outpaced Panama’s Donald Lee, who took second place, while Brazil’s William Hideki rounded out the podium in third.
Target sports also contributed to the nation’s totals. Joaquín Cisneros earned a bronze medal in the Olympic Trap shooting category. In the 50-meter rifle three positions event, Amelia Fournel finished with a bronze medal behind Peru’s Alexia Arenas, who claimed gold, and Brazil’s Geovana Meyer, who took silver.
High-Profile Visitors and Team Results
Away from the medal events, the Games drew notable figures from Argentine football. Prior to upcoming FIFA international friendlies, Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni attended the multisport event in Santa Fe. Accompanied by coaching staff members Walter Samuel and Roberto Ayala, Scaloni observed the under-19 football match between Argentina and Uruguay alongside youth team coach Diego Placente.
On the court, the Argentine women’s volleyball team reached the tournament final but settled for the silver medal after dropping a 3-0 decision to Colombia.
Competitions across the various venues in Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela continue ahead of the closing ceremonies, with athletes aiming to build on the milestone medal counts established during the opening week of the 2026 Games.
