The 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in Saltillo concluded with Dhiraj Bommadevara and Marie Horáčková claiming the recurve titles after a dramatic weekend of competition in the capital of Coahuila, Mexico, according to official tournament results and local reporting.
The elite tournament brought together 32 of the world’s top archers across individual recurve and compound categories. Qualification for the season-ending showcase required athletes to earn their places either by winning one of the four regular-season stages—held in Puebla, Shanghai, Antalya, and Madrid—or by accumulating the highest ranking points over the circuit, as detailed by World Archery records.
India’s Dhiraj Bommadevara secured the men’s recurve gold medal after a series of intense head-to-head matches. Japan’s Junya Nakanishi finished with the silver medal, while Turkey’s Mete Gazoz captured the bronze, according to coverage from Milenio.
In the women’s recurve division, the Czech Republic’s Marie Horáčková triumphed to take the gold medal. Germany’s Katharina Bauer secured the silver, and Turkey’s Elif Gokkir earned the bronze after a tightly contested shoot-off against Mexican Olympian Alejandra Valencia, as reported by Milenio.
Mexican Contingent Makes History in Saltillo
The host nation fielded its largest-ever delegation for an Archery World Cup Final, entering seven athletes. Four of those competitors—Matías Grande, Ana Paula Vázquez, Dafne Quintero, and Sebastián García—hail from the host state of Coahuila.
“Es muy importante que seamos tantos atletas del mismo estado, pero creo que no es casualidad,” Sebastián García told Olympics.com regarding the local development pipeline. “En Coahuila se inició un programa de trabajo hace más de 10 años y entonces quizá no éramos tan buenos. Sin embargo, el proyecto siguió y pudimos tener un desarrollo continuo desde infantiles o juveniles, representando al estado en la Olimpiada Nacional, hasta ahora a México como adultos.”
Dafne Quintero claimed a silver medal in the compound competition, while Rodrigo González added a bronze medal for the host delegation, according to Olympic committee results.
Quarterfinal Exits and Weather Delays
The final day of competition tested both athletes and organizers. Local reports from Milenio noted that officials briefly evaluated pausing the schedule due to an approaching electrical storm that ultimately skirted the capital of Coahuila, allowing matches to proceed.
In the men’s recurve quarterfinals, local favorite Matías Grande was eliminated by Turkey’s Mete Gazoz, who advanced to secure the bronze. In the women’s bracket, Ana Paula Vázquez reached the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Marie Horáčková. Alejandra Valencia also advanced to the quarterfinals, finishing fourth overall after a narrow 5–5 draw against Elif Gokkir that was decided by a final tiebreak arrow, according to Milenio’s on-the-ground reporting.
World Archery designed the World Cup series in 2006, with Mérida hosting the inaugural Final that same year.
