New Archery Range for Suvereto’s Black Eagle Archers in Montioni Park

The Arcieri Storici dell’Aquila Nera di Suvereto have secured a new 18-hectare woodland course within the Parco di Montioni for simulated hunting field archery, according to administrative documents and local officials. The formal award follows a public tender process finalized by the Unione di Comuni Montana Colline Metallifere di Massa Marittima under Determination 699, establishing a six-year renewable agreement for the grounds surrounding Poggio Saracino.

Establishing a Permanent Archery Course in Poggio Saracino

The newly designated site spans a sprawling 18-hectare plot in the heart of the Parco di Montioni. According to club leadership, the terrain’s specific contours and vast acreage provide an ideal landscape for competitive field archery events. The agreement grants the Suvereto-based archery club stable operational rights in the area, allowing for a higher density of target placements than previous temporary arrangements permitted.

“The scale of the available spaces and the particular terrain compliance in that zone of the park will allow us to build a simulated hunting course of high sporting level,” said Fabrizio Galletti, president of the Arcieri Storici dell’Aquila Nera di Suvereto. Galletti noted that the club intends to install rubber animal target silhouettes promptly to prepare the course for competitive use.

Competition Timeline and Regional Tournament Preparations

The club has set an aggressive timeline to prepare the Montioni facility for official competition. Workers and volunteers plan to have the layout functional by September, setting the stage for a major regional test.

The course’s first official competition is already locked in for November 22, when it will host a regional event for the Italian Federation of Field Archery (FIARC). While the association has organized high-level tournaments for years, Galletti emphasized that securing a stable, permanent field with an elevated target count fundamentally alters their ability to vary course routes depending on the specific tournament type or training focus.

Park Development and Infrastructure Synergies

Local municipal leaders view the archery project as a vital component of a broader revitalization effort within the Parco di Montioni. Marco Toninelli, the municipal assessor delegated to oversee the park, expressed strong support for the partnership and the quick development timeline for the Poggio Saracino sector.

The archery course will utilize the historic Stalloni buildings as its operational starting point. Municipal authorities have already scheduled renovation work for these structures as part of an overarching master plan for the park. Marco Pollini, president of the Unione dei Comuni Montana Colline Metallifere, coordinated the administrative steps alongside the Suvereto municipal administration, with local officials projecting that the majority of the park’s multi-year improvement projects will reach completion by the end of 2027.
