Galatasaray MCT Technic Prepares for Sinan Erdem Move and Domestic Opener
Galatasaray MCT Technic will open its domestic campaign at home against league newcomers Çayırova Belediyesi, following the official fixture draw held at the Basketball Development Center under the auspices of the Turkish Basketball Federation, according to club records. General Manager Özgün Önver and General Manager Assistant İbrahim Tilki represented the club at the draw ceremony. The Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi 2026/27 season officially tips off with opening fixtures scheduled across September 25, 26, and 27. The league’s first half will observe a brief pause from November 23 to December 1 due to FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
Reflecting on roster construction and organizational goals, Önver stated that management has spent the last 40 to 50 days carefully evaluating targets to establish a resilient team culture. “We are trying to build a proper structure as much as we can,” Önver said via the club’s official media. “Under Mecit Bey’s leadership and with the great support of our President Dursun Aydın Özbek, I can say our targets are high this year. To achieve this, we desperately need the power of our Galatasaray fans. As you know, we will play our matches at Sinan Erdem Dome this season. When we play in front of packed stands at Sinan Erdem, I don’t think we will lose matches easily.”
Galatasaray’s first-half league schedule features consecutive tests, starting with Çayırova Belediyesi in Week 1, followed by an away fixture against Karşıyaka in Week 2, a home match against Bursaspor in Week 3, and a clash with Beşiktaş in Week 4. Under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Massimo Cancellieri, the Bursa-based club will begin on-court preparations on August 13 at the Mustafa V. Koç Sports Facilities.
The squad’s rigorous warmup slate includes ten preparatory fixtures. TOFAŞ will host Glint Körfez Basket on August 22 for its opening test, followed by cross-town matchups against Bursaspor Basketbol in Bursa on August 26, and meetings with Beşiktaş Basketbol and Fenerbahçe Basketbol in Istanbul on August 29 and September 1, respectively. Upon returning to Bursa, TOFAŞ will host the traditional 26th Cevat Soydaş Basketball Tournament on September 18 and 19 at the Nilüfer TOFAŞ Sports Hall, welcoming Trabzonspor Basketbol, Galatasaray MCT Technic, and Bursaspor Basketbol to the competitive field.
