The Voga Veneta Nettuno delegation is officially set to participate in the upcoming Regata Storica in Venice, bringing local sporting tradition to the international stage in early September with live broadcast coverage provided by Rai, according to municipal announcements.
Official Presentation and Municipal Support
City officials formally presented the crew’s upcoming trip during a meeting in the municipal council room in Nettuno. Mayor Nicola Burrini and Tourism Councilor Marco Federici led the administrative backing for the project, alongside Councilor Roberto Imperato and local beach establishment representatives. According to municipal statements, the administration chose to sponsor and fully support the initiative to elevate Nettuno’s profile through the historical rowing event.
“This splendid initiative that brings the name of Nettuno to a great international showcase was underestimated for too long,” Councilor Marco Federici said, according to municipal records. “As an administration, we intend to sponsor it and make ourselves known also in Venice and by those who participate in a Regata of such importance.”
Crew Perspective and Local Partnerships
Nando Taurelli, leading the Voga Veneta Nettuno crew, emphasized the significance of the community backing as the team prepares for the Canal Grande showcase. Local stakeholders, including beach operators represented by Marco Belleudi, the Pro Loco Nettuno, and the Bcc di Nettuno, have stepped forward to fund and support the project.
“For the first time, we feel that the city of Nettuno is close to us,” Nando Taurelli said, as reported by municipal and local press sources. “We will bring our beauties and our values to Venice. We will make known a very beautiful city like Nettuno and its beauties, the beaches, and the value of safety and rescue.”
Marco Belleudi added context regarding the local business community’s involvement, noting that supporting the Voga Veneta serves as a point of pride following other seasonal investments such as beach shuttle services.
Flag Presentation and Future Outlook
During the briefing, Mayor Burrini handed the city flag to crew leader Nando Taurelli, designating it to fly along the Canal Grande during the September regatta. The administration confirmed that preparations are already underway to expand tourism initiatives and community partnerships for the following year.
“I am proud of this initiative that brings us to a top-tier tourist showcase in Venice, and for this reason today I hand the flag of Nettuno to Nando Taurelli so that it flies in the Grand Canal,” Mayor Nicola Burrini stated. “The season is proceeding and we are happy with how it goes, but we are already starting to think about next year’s event.”
Event Schedule and Broadcast Details
The Regata Storica di Venice is scheduled to take place in early September along the Canal Grande. National television broadcaster Rai will air the event live, offering audiences a view of the rowing spectacle alongside Nettuno’s participating delegation.
