Municipal officials in Latina have completed a series of six infrastructure updates across local school sports facilities, highlighted by the full refurbishment of an outdoor basketball court at the primary school in Tor Tre Ponti. Andrea Chiarato, the city’s councilor for sport and sports facilities, visited the site for a final inspection of the upgraded basketball area, parking lot, and solar-powered LED entrance lighting.
Tor Tre Ponti Upgrades and Municipal Funding
The improvements at Tor Tre Ponti form part of a broader municipal package totaling 220,000 euros funded directly through the city budget. According to city officials, the project delivers a completely renewed basketball facility for students alongside paving repairs in the parking zone and a new photovoltaic LED lighting fixture mounted on the primary school’s entrance facade. In addition to the primary school work, the contracting firm also updated exterior security fencing at the local kindergarten facility.
“These are small maintenance interventions that make a difference,” Chiarato said during the site inspection, emphasizing that damaged fences or broken window frames can jeopardize student safety. The six-project contract spans multiple municipal districts, restoring functionality and safety to outdoor courts, gymnasiums, and student areas for both children and school staff.
System Efficiency and Facility Repairs Across Latina Schools
Beyond Tor Tre Ponti, the municipal maintenance initiative reached several other educational facilities in the Latina area, addressing specific structural and electrical needs:
- Corradini School: Crews installed high-efficiency LED lighting certified for sports facilities, completed the electrical hookup for the outdoor sports area, repaired emergency exit doors, and overhauled the locker room block by fixing doors and restoring broken restrooms.
- Borgo Carso School: Work focused on the pitched roof’s sheet metal gutters—including cleaning, joint sealing, and overall overhaul to prevent wall infiltration—along with exterior surface repairs and interior plaster restoration and painting.
- Borgo Podgora School: The project replaced existing fixtures with certified high-efficiency LED gym lights, installed protective netting over lights and ceilings, updated emergency lighting and panic hardware, and repaired locker room doors, plumbing fixtures, and wall plaster.
- Aldo Manuzio School (Latina Scalo): Technicians overhauled the gymnasium lighting system with new LED lamps designed to optimize energy consumption, reduce costs, and improve visibility.
- Borgo Montello School: The municipal gymnasium received upgraded lighting alongside a donated defibrillator to enhance emergency medical readiness for student and community users.
Community Impact and Next Steps
The completion of these six interventions closes out the current 220,000-euro funding tranche aimed at eliminating safety hazards and modernizing aging school infrastructure.
