Stiggers had initially walked back toward the sideline before collapsing on the field. Practice was halted for more than 10 minutes while emergency responders attended to the defensive back. Prior to his departure, Stiggers was conscious and able to speak with medical staff.

Entering the league via a rare route, Stiggers did not play college football after graduating from The B.E.S.T. Academy in Atlanta. He instead spent time in Fan Controlled Football before signing with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Across his first two seasons in New York, Stiggers has logged 35 tackles, three passes defended, and two fumble recoveries while establishing himself as a key contributor on special teams.
