The Campus del Bàsquet Girona al Collell reached its penultimate day under intense summer sunlight, featuring special guest appearances from professional basketball figures designed to mentor the camp’s oldest participant groups. Held at the rural sports facilities in Spain, the multi-day youth basketball gathering brings together more than 12 distinct groups and roughly 35 coaches working in close proximity across the camp grounds.
Specialized Training Sessions Led by Professional Coaches
As part of an established tradition at the summer camp, the oldest two age cohorts—comprising participants born in 2010—received specialized training sessions from high-level basketball personnel. The boys’ session was directed by Sergi Oliva, an NBA assistant coach, who put the young players through advanced drills. On the following day, the girls’ cohort experienced a similar elite training opportunity, receiving direct instruction and tactical advice from Jordi Sargatal, an assistant coach for the professional women’s club Spar Girona.
A Surprise Visit from Professional Standout Ainhoa López
Beyond the scheduled coaching appearances, the camp participants received an unexpected visit during the final stretches of the younger groups’ training session. Professional basketball player Ainhoa López arrived at the facility, interacting naturally with the young athletes and blending in as just another member of the camp community.
