Repêchage LCF: Mesidor remains top prospect as Jones leads Quebec prospects
The Canadian Football League’s upcoming draft has revealed Akheem Mesidor as the consensus top prospect, maintaining his position as the No. 1 overall eligible player for the 2026 CFL Draft.
According to the CFL Scouting Bureau’s rankings released Tuesday, the defensive end from the University of Miami continues to lead the pack, having recorded 60 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles during the 2025 season. Mesidor earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors for his performance.
While Mesidor holds the top spot the highest-ranked Quebec prospect is Montreal tight end Rohan Jones of the University of Arkansas, who occupies the sixth position in the rankings.
Six Quebec-born players appear in the top 20 of the CFL Scouting Bureau’s list, including linebacker Dariel Djaborne of Longueuil (eighth, Rutgers), defensive back Malcolm Bell of Montreal (tenth, Michigan State), receiver Nick Cenacle of Montreal (fifteenth, Hawaii), offensive lineman Emerci Boutin of L’Assomption (sixteenth, Laval), and receiver Malick Meiga of Montreal (seventeenth, Coastal Carolina).
The CFL Draft is scheduled for April 28, 2026, with the Ottawa Redblacks holding the first overall selection and the Montreal Alouettes set to pick eighth.
Mesidor, who has been consistently ranked among the top prospects since last fall, is also projected to be a high selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, which begins this week. Some mock drafts have placed him as high as the 15th overall pick in the NFL process.
The next step in the process will be the CFL Draft on April 28, where teams will finalize their selections based on these evaluations.
