Seoul Metropolitan Police Veterans’ Association Hiking Club Conducts April Hike on Gwanaksan
On April 24, 2026, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Veterans’ Association’s hiking club, known as Seogyeong Sanakhoe, conducted their monthly mountain hike on Gwanaksan in Seoul’s Gwanak District. The event brought together approximately 20 members including association officers, regional chapter presidents, and club officials for a health-focused outdoor activity.
According to verified reports from the hiking club’s activities, participants gathered at the Gwanaksan Station area at 10:30 a.m. Local time before beginning their trek. The group conducted light warm-up exercises prior to starting the hike, following standard safety protocols for mountain activities.
The hiking route followed established sections of the Seoul City Wall Trail, beginning at the Gwanaksan entrance plaza. Participants proceeded through the trail, passing notable landmarks including the Hwahwa Badminton Court area and the Yongamcheon Stream intersection before reaching the second plaza area of the mountain trail system.
After completing approximately 5 kilometers of trail over roughly two hours, the group returned to their starting point at the Gwanaksan entrance plaza. The hike concluded with a shared meal at a local restaurant, providing an opportunity for social interaction and relationship building among participants.
Association President Ahn Byeong-jeong emphasized the importance of regular physical activity during the post-hike gathering, stating that maintaining health is essential as losing one’s health means losing everything. He encouraged continued participation in the club’s regular hiking events as a means of promoting both physical well-being and organizational unity.
The hiking club’s activities are part of ongoing efforts by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Veterans’ Association to support member health and foster community connections through organized outdoor activities. These monthly hikes serve as regular opportunities for veterans to engage in physical exercise while building camaraderie in a natural setting.
The Gwanaksan mountain area, standing at 629 meters above sea level, represents one of Seoul’s prominent natural landmarks and continues to be a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking accessible nature experiences within the metropolitan area.
As part of their seasonal programming, the hiking club plans to continue conducting regular mountain hikes throughout the spring and summer months, with future events scheduled to follow similar formats focused on health promotion and member engagement.
