Herscheid Badminton Club Youth Tournament Held at Rahlenberg Sports Hall – Full Results & Highlights

The Badminton Club Herscheid hosted its annual youth tournament, the Sauerland Cup – Kids Edition, over the weekend, drawing 72 young players from nine different clubs to the Sporthalle am Rahlenberg in Herscheid, Germany.

According to LokalDirekt, the competition took place on Saturday and Sunday, with singles matches in the U13, U15, and U18 age groups held on Saturday, followed by mixed doubles events on Sunday.

The host club, BC Herscheid, fielded the largest contingent with 25 participants, showcasing strong local engagement in the sport.

Individual success came for Julian Baron of BC Herscheid, who won the boys’ singles U13 title and also claimed victory in the boys’ doubles U15 alongside Tom Biehsmann.

Dean Ricken of Plettenberger BV secured two titles as well, capturing the boys’ singles U18 championship and partnering with Daniel Lamey — also from Plettenberger BV — to win the boys’ doubles U18 division.

Other participating clubs came from Lüdenscheid, Werdohl, Plettenberg, Münster, Lünen, Köln, Siegen, and Fröndenberg, reflecting the tournament’s regional reach across North Rhine-Westphalia.

The organizing committee praised the event for its high turnout and competitive standard, noting the vital role of volunteers in ensuring smooth operations throughout the weekend.

Looking ahead, BC Herscheid announced that the next Sauerland Cup — this time for adult players — is scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2026, open to competitors ranging from recreational level to Verbandsliga standard.

The Sporthalle am Rahlenberg continues to serve as the central venue for the club’s major badminton events, supporting youth development and community involvement in the sport.
