Gissi, Italy – Students from the “G. Spataro” Comprehensive Institute’s Secondary School of First Grade in Gissi are celebrating success after a strong showing at the provincial phase of the Nuovi Giochi della Gioventù (New Youth Games) badminton competition. The event, held at the ITIS of Lanciano, saw the young athletes compete against peers from other schools in the region.
The growing popularity of badminton within the school is largely credited to the instruction of Professor Vittorio Settembre. According to students and staff, the sport offers a compelling alternative to tennis, though with distinct differences. Badminton racquets are lighter, a shuttlecock replaces the tennis ball, the court is smaller, and the rules are uniquely its own.

The Omnicomprensivo Spataro team excelled, securing victories in both the individual and mixed events. Their success has fueled their enthusiasm as they prepare for the regional phase of the competition, scheduled to take place in Montesilvano.
