Prostějov Remisoval se Slavií B: Mbodji Vyrovnal, Necid V Ofsajdu!

Prague – A late goal from Youssoupha Mbodji secured a 1-1 draw for Slavia Prague B against Prostějov in a closely contested match of the Czech Republic’s Chance Národní Liga on Sunday. The result, played at SC Olympia Radotín, leaves Prostějov still searching for a breakthrough win, currently enduring a nine-match winless streak in the league.

Prostějov made a bright start to the match, taking the lead within the opening two minutes. Koudelka delivered a pinpoint cross that found Hais, who headed the ball towards Kramář, who ultimately put the ball into the net. The early goal put pressure on the Slavia B side, forcing them to respond.

Slavia B, bolstered by the presence of experienced captain Tomáš Necid, pushed for an equalizer. A potential breakthrough arrived ten minutes into the game, but a goal from Necid was ruled out for offside, having been set up by a cross from former Prostějov player, Kušej. Necid continued to threaten the Prostějov defense throughout the first half, hitting the woodwork once and forcing goalkeeper Mikulec into several saves, also denying attempts from Teah, and Mbodji.

The second half saw Slavia B continue to press for an equalizer. Eliáš Piták was a constant threat, having two significant chances early in the half, one blocked by the Prostějov defense and another narrowly missing the target. Piták’s continued efforts created opportunities, but the Prostějov defense remained resilient.

The breakthrough finally came in the 72nd minute when Mbodji found the back of the net, connecting with a cross from Piták. The goal brought Mbodji’s productivity to mind, recalling his previous success in the Champions League, where he scored twice in a draw against Bodø/Glimt.

Despite a flurry of late attacks, neither side could find a winning goal, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The point moves Prostějov to 14th in the table, two points ahead of Kroměříž and three clear of Sparta B.

Prostějov coach Jan Podolák acknowledged the challenging nature of the match, stating, “We had a great start and scored a quick goal, which paradoxically hurt us a bit for the rest of the half. The opponent tried to equalize quickly and kept us under pressure. We were more defensive, but we didn’t allow Slavia any easy chances. We waited for our opportunities, there were several, but the second goal didn’t arrive. The final draw is fair based on the course of the match, we have another point in the table, which we earned against a remarkably quality opponent and we have to take it that way.”

Looking ahead, Prostějov will face league leaders Zbrojovka Brno in their next match on Friday. Notably, Prostějov remains the only team to have defeated Zbrojovka in the current second league season. However, their current form presents a significant challenge, as they are currently on a nine-game winless run in the league.
