Amiens, France – The AAC Tennis Padel tournament saw a thrilling conclusion to its international wheelchair tennis competition on Saturday, as the duo of Langmann and Langlois emerged victorious in the men’s doubles final. The pair overcame a strong challenge from Boittiaux and Legendre in a closely contested match that ended 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The tournament was particularly notable for local player Timothée Da Costa Santos, representing Amiens AC Tennis Padel, though his run ended in the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles competitions. Despite his early exit alongside partner Luca Arca, the final showcased a strong French presence, pitting two all-French teams against each other for the title.
Boittiaux and Legendre started strongly, securing the first break of the match at 1-1 and consolidating it to lead 3-1. Their aggressive net play and overall dominance in the first set allowed them to break their opponents again, moving to a commanding 5-1 lead. However, a slight lapse in concentration allowed Langmann and Langlois to break back, narrowing the gap to 5-4. Despite the resurgence, Boittiaux and Legendre closed out the first set, capitalizing on four unforced errors from their opponents to take it 6-4.
The second set began with Langmann and Langlois asserting themselves, winning the first seven points and immediately breaking serve to lead 2-0. A tightly contested third game went to a deciding point, but a net error from Langlois allowed Boittiaux and Legendre to break back. The momentum proved short-lived, as the Langmann/Langlois pairing regained the break immediately, moving to a 3-2 advantage. Neither team could consistently hold serve, resulting in a score of 3-4, with both sides failing to win their own service games since the early stages of the set. Boittiaux leveled the score at 4-4 with a crucial hold, but it was the more experienced duo of Langmann and Langlois who ultimately prevailed, securing the set 6-4 and forcing a super tie-break.
The super tie-break proved to be a tense affair, with both teams trading points until 3-3. Langmann and Langlois then gained a mini-break advantage, extending their lead to 8-4. They ultimately converted their second match point to claim the championship 10-5.
