Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has quickly turn into a pivotal figure for the club since arriving in the winter transfer window of 2025. The Georgian international recently shared his thoughts on his first year in the French capital, a year capped by a historic Champions League triumph for Les Parisiens.
PSG made a significant investment in Kvaratskhelia, reportedly spending €80 million to secure his services from Napoli. He immediately impressed manager Luis Enrique, establishing himself as a key starter and playing a crucial role in the team’s success, particularly in the Champions League. Ahead of their upcoming Champions League Round of 16 tie against Chelsea, Kvaratskhelia spoke with Le Parisien, offering insights into his journey and ambitions.
A Player’s Profile
“I would say patient, aggressive, a warrior, and… Georgian!” Kvaratskhelia said with a smile. “The last two are more or less the same thing. Only Georgians can truly understand the nuance. We come from a very little country, and we attempt to make it known to the world by sending the best possible image. When people come to Georgia, we make sure to be the best possible hosts, for example. When I play, I play first for Georgia before I play for myself.”
He continued, “When you come from a small country like mine, you don’t have many chances to play for a big club like PSG. It’s a huge source of pride today to be known as the Georgian from Paris.”
Life in Paris
“I love Paris, I like everything about Paris,” Kvaratskhelia stated. “The more I think about it, the more I like the fact that people are very respectful. When you go out, they don’t bother you much. At a restaurant, for example, they ask before taking a photo. I really like that. It’s the best city to walk around with your wife. You have everything here, and it’s also the city of love. When PSG called me, I think my wife was the happiest person in the world. Before PSG contacted me, she always told me, ‘Imagine if we played at PSG one day, it would be incredible to live there, in Paris.’ I would reply, ‘Yes, of course.’ But in my head, I thought it was so difficult to get there, especially with players like Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé…”
A Dream Move
“When you come from a small country like mine, playing for one of the biggest teams in the world is, of course, a dream! Arriving at Napoli was already something very important to me. I was very proud to have achieved that. But it was when PSG contacted me that I really understood that I had become a world-class player. I was really very proud. I had other options, other offers, but the way the coach and the sporting director presented the project impressed me. I didn’t think twice, I simply told my agent that I wanted to go to PSG.”
A Perfect 2025
“I’m very lucky, because even at Napoli, they hadn’t won the Scudetto for years, and we did it before I left the club. It’s the same at PSG with the Champions League. In Georgia, they say that when you enter a room with your right foot, you’ll be lucky. So, I arrived in Paris with the right foot. When I arrived, the first match I attended was the victory against City. I thought, ‘But these guys are incredible, where am I going to be able to play in this team?’ And when I saw them in training, I realized that everything was possible and that we could win this Champions League.”
A Moment to Remember
“The goal in the Champions League final, ” Kvaratskhelia said when asked about his favorite moment of 2025. “I want to relive that moment many times. (He smiles.) I was so moved that I didn’t even know how to celebrate it. I think I was the proudest man on the planet at that moment.”
Maintaining Motivation
“When you win something you’ve been chasing for a long time, maybe you calm down a little afterwards. But what’s great at PSG is that the coach, the staff, and the whole team motivate themselves to win many more times.”
Looking Ahead: Can PSG Repeat?
“I think the reason is that we are PSG and this club is truly incredible. We know we can do it again because the players, the staff, the coaches, the owners of the team, everyone is involved and wants to win often.”
The Relationship with Luis Enrique
“We have a very good relationship. He’s the coach. He can yell at me, he can say whatever he wants because I know he wants me to become a better version of myself. He simply explains things, he wants to teach you every time. When he gives you advice, you just have to follow it to improve.”
Kvaratskhelia’s arrival at PSG has undeniably elevated the team’s attacking prowess. His dribbling skills, playmaking ability, and goal-scoring threat have made him an instant fan favorite. The 25-year-old (as of February 12, 2026, according to Wikipedia) has quickly adapted to life in Paris, embracing the city and the challenge of competing at the highest level.
PSG will demand Kvaratskhelia at his best as they prepare to face Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie. The match promises to be a thrilling encounter, and Kvaratskhelia’s performance will be crucial to PSG’s chances of progressing to the quarter-finals. The first leg will be played in Paris on February 17th, 2026.
