Judge & Stanton frappent leur 1er circuit, les Yankees blanchissent les Giants (2-0)

NEW YORK – The New York Yankees continued their dominant start to the 2026 Major League Baseball season on Friday, securing a 3-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The win marked the Yankees’ second consecutive shutout against the Giants, a feat they hadn’t accomplished to start a season in franchise history.

A key storyline in the victory was the offensive contributions of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, both of whom launched their first home runs of the year. This marked the 60th time the two power hitters have gone deep in the same game, placing them sixth all-time among teammates for that accomplishment, according to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs.

Judge broke the scoreless tie in the sixth inning, sending a two-run blast off Giants pitcher Robbie Ray. Having struggled in the season opener, going 0-for-5 with four strikeouts on Wednesday, Judge’s home run provided a much-needed spark for the Yankees offense. The momentum continued two batters later when Stanton connected for a solo home run off José Buttó, extending New York’s lead to 3-0.

The Yankees’ pitching staff was equally impressive. Starter Cam Schlittler delivered a stellar performance, pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings and striking out eight batters while allowing just one hit – a double by Heliot Ramos. Schlittler’s dominance set the tone for the game, and the bullpen continued the strong showing. Fernando Cruz, Tim Hill, and David Bednar combined to shut down the Giants’ offense, completing the second consecutive shutout.

The Giants’ offense has struggled to get going against the Yankees’ pitching. Through the first two games of the season, San Francisco has managed only four hits and remains scoreless. They are now just the third team in MLB history to record five or fewer hits in each of their first two games, joining the 1909 and 1953 Chicago White Sox, a dubious distinction.

Ray (0-1) took the loss for the Giants, despite a solid outing that included four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. He was simply outdueled by Schlittler and the Yankees’ pitching staff. The Giants will seem to finally break into the run column on Saturday when they send right-hander Tyler Mahle to the mound for his debut with the team.

Mahle will face off against Yankees pitcher Will Warren in the final game of the three-game series. The Giants are hoping Mahle can provide a much-needed boost to their offense and prevent the Yankees from completing a sweep.
