Archers of Montrivel Host Women’s Shooting Day to Celebrate International Women’s Day

Champagnole, France – The Compagnie des Archers de Montrivel, in partnership with Tir Sportif Champagnolais, is set to host a special open house event dedicated to women on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The event, timed to coincide with International Women’s Day, will offer women of all ages the opportunity to try their hand at archery, pistol shooting and rifle shooting.

From 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Salle des Louataux in Champagnole, attendees will be able to discover the fundamentals of each discipline under the guidance of experienced instructors. While the event is primarily geared towards women, male companions are welcome to participate, though priority will be given to female participants.

Growing Interest in Shooting Sports

This marks the third consecutive year the Archers de Montrivel have organized this event, a testament to its growing popularity. “We’re renewing this initiative for the third year because it works well. we gather around a hundred people each time,” said Claude Flaive, president of the Archers de Montrivel. The event serves a dual purpose: introducing the sport of shooting to a wider audience and recruiting new members to the club.

The club is currently experiencing a surge in interest, a trend Flaive attributes, in part, to the recent Olympic Games. “For us, ‘the Olympic effect’ has worked well and doesn’t seem to be waning, as we have more members than last year,” he explained. Currently, the Archers de Montrivel boasts 76 members, a number comparable to larger clubs in nearby Lons-le-Saunier and Dole, despite serving a smaller population base.

A Sport for All Ages and Abilities

The Archers de Montrivel welcomes participants from ages 10 to 85, offering both recreational and competitive opportunities. Training takes place indoors during the winter months and outdoors near the rugby fields during the summer. The club emphasizes that shooting is a sport adaptable to all skill levels and physical abilities.

Currently, 36% of the Archers de Montrivel’s membership is female, a figure that aligns with the national average, according to Flaive. He highlighted the growing appeal of shooting sports among women, citing its benefits for well-being, concentration, self-control, respect, and camaraderie.

“Women and men can shoot their first arrows or first bullets together, train together, or even compete together. There are no physical or material barriers, as everything is adapted and adaptable,” Flaive stated.
