Colazza, Italy – A new initiative aimed at fostering youth engagement through sports and social programs is set to launch this Saturday, March 14th, at the Palaghiaccio in Colazza. The Res_Giovani project, spearheaded by the Comune di Invorio and backed by the Regione Piemonte, will offer a range of activities for young people aged 15-34, focusing on social inclusion, workforce readiness and healthy lifestyles.
The project is part of a broader regional effort, “Piemonte per i Giovani,” designed to support youth development across the Piedmont region. According to an official announcement from the Comune di Invorio, the initiative aims to connect young residents with opportunities in sports, social services, and the job market. The Regione Piemonte is participating with 39 partner organizations, including municipalities, third-sector entities, youth associations, and schools.
A Day of Sport and Community Engagement
Saturday’s launch event, running from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM local time (UTC+1), will provide attendees with a chance to sample various sports and connect with local organizations. Gioko, a local sports association, will be offering introductory sessions in badminton and Nordic walking, two popular activities in the area. Notably, Gioko will provide free badminton and Nordic walking courses to those who register, space permitting. What we have is a direct result of securing funding through the Regione Piemonte’s “Piemonte per i Giovani” grant program.
The commitment from Gioko extends beyond introductory sessions. The association plans to introduce badminton to students at high schools in Arona, reaching over 800 students. Gioko will too donate technical equipment to the schools, ensuring the continuation of badminton programs after the initial project phase. This long-term investment underscores the project’s goal of creating sustainable opportunities for youth participation in sports.
Broader Regional Initiative: “Piemonte per i Giovani”
The Res_Giovani project is a key component of the larger “Piemonte per i Giovani” initiative, which was approved by the Regional Council (D.G.R. N. 19-1113) on May 12, 2025. The initiative, outlined in a regional announcement, provides funding to municipalities and networks of public and third-sector organizations dedicated to youth policies. The program focuses on several key areas: assisting young people in integrating into the social and professional world, promoting active participation in civic life, encouraging healthy lifestyles, fostering engagement in sports, and raising awareness about environmental protection.
The Regione Piemonte allocated significant financial resources to the “Piemonte per i Giovani” program, with €4.640 million available for eligible projects. The application window for funding closed on September 18, 2025. The Comune di Invorio, serving as the lead partner for the Res_Giovani project, successfully secured funding through a competitive bidding process.
Beyond the Launch: Upcoming Events and Workshops
The Res_Giovani project extends beyond the initial launch event. A series of workshops and events are planned throughout the spring and summer, addressing a range of topics relevant to young people. These include discussions on relationships and popular television shows (“paRla di mE” series), emergency preparedness training, and sessions focused on LGBTQ+ issues and mental health. The events will be held in various locations throughout the region, including Invorio and Nebbiuno.
Specifically, the “paRla di mE” series will explore the themes presented in popular TV shows, offering a space for young people to discuss their own experiences and perspectives. Upcoming sessions include discussions on the Netflix series “Wednesday” (April 8th) and “You” (June 20th). These events aim to foster open dialogue and provide a safe environment for young people to explore complex social issues.
A Collaborative Effort for Youth Development
The Res_Giovani project represents a collaborative effort between the Regione Piemonte, the Comune di Invorio, and a network of local organizations. This partnership demonstrates a commitment to investing in the future of young people in the Piedmont region. By providing access to sports, social programs, and educational opportunities, the project aims to empower young residents and help them reach their full potential.
The next scheduled event is the launch event at the Palaghiaccio di Colazza this Saturday. Further details about upcoming events and workshops can be found through the Comune di Invorio website and local partner organizations. The project’s success will be measured by its ability to engage young people, provide meaningful opportunities, and contribute to a more inclusive and vibrant community.
