DENVER – The Denver Broncos significantly bolstered their receiving corps Tuesday, acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a substantial draft package. The trade, which includes first-, third-, and fourth-round selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, signals a clear intent by the Broncos to provide a dynamic target for quarterback Bo Nix.
The Dolphins as well send their 2026 fourth-round pick to Denver, completing the deal that was first reported by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo. The transaction is pending a physical, as is standard for all NFL trades.
Waddle, 27, joins the Broncos after four seasons in Miami, where he quickly established himself as one of the league’s most explosive playmakers. He was originally selected sixth overall by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft and consistently produced at a high level, recording three consecutive 1,000-plus yard receiving seasons to begin his career.
While the 2025 season presented challenges for the Dolphins – including a season-ending injury to Tyreek Hill, the benching of Tua Tagovailoa, and the eventual firing of head coach Mike McDaniel – Waddle still managed a productive campaign. He finished with 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns. The Broncos are betting that a change of scenery and a stable quarterback situation will unlock even more of Waddle’s potential.
This move comes after Denver lost in the AFC Championship Game last season, highlighting the team’s urgency to elevate its offensive firepower. Waddle’s speed and route-running ability are expected to immediately impact the Broncos’ passing game, providing Nix with a reliable and dangerous target.

Despite his consistent production, Waddle has faced some injury concerns throughout his career. He has yet to replicate his standout 2022 season, where he caught eight touchdowns, a career high. A rib injury also hampered his performance towards the finish of the 2025 season, keeping him out of the season-ending loss to the Patriots.
In Denver, Waddle will join a receiving corps that already includes Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., Lil’Jordan Humphrey, and Michael Bandy. The addition of Waddle is expected to elevate the entire unit and create more opportunities for all involved. The Broncos’ offensive strategy will likely evolve to incorporate Waddle’s unique skillset, utilizing his speed and agility to stretch the field and create mismatches.
