Make way for the grand opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Even though the events started two days ago, the official start of the competition will be given this Friday, February 6 with a show planned on four sites simultaneously. If the main show takes place at the San Siro stadium in Milan, the athletes will also parade in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Predazzo and Livigno.
Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli and Laura Pausini are expected to perform on stage during this ceremony which will begin at 8 p.m. and last 2h30. Clément Noël and Chloé Trespeuch were chosen to be the standard bearers of the French delegation. They will therefore bring their compatriots for this great celebration.
Before that, several events are on the program. This Friday marks the start of the figure skating competitions, with the team event. There is the rhythmic dance for couples at 9:55 a.m., before the short program for couples at 11:35 a.m. and the short individual women’s program at 1:35 p.m. Lorine Schild and the duo Camille Kovalev-Pavel Kovalev will notably represent the Blues.
At 12:10 p.m., the French women’s ice hockey team is already playing its second match. After having challenged Italy the day before to open the tournament, the Blues this time face Japan, 8th nation in the world rankings. A second match again crucial before approaching the end of the group stage and the matches against Sweden and Germany.
